Brooklyn Beckham Honors Father-in-Law Nelson Peltz Amid Estrangement
Brooklyn Beckham recently marked the birthday of his father-in-law, Nelson Peltz, with a heartfelt public tribute. This comes shortly after he reportedly did not acknowledge Father’s Day on Sunday, sparking further discussion about his strained relationship with his own father, David Beckham.
Nelson Peltz, the billionaire father of Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz, celebrated his 84th birthday this week. Nicola led the tributes, sharing numerous loving posts for her father. Brooklyn joined in, posting a photo of himself with Mr. Peltz at a family gathering. “Happy birthday Nelson x I love u so much,” Brooklyn captioned the image, adding, “I’m so happy I could celebrate you today! Thank you for being the best father in law.” He accompanied his message with heart emojis.
Brooklyn was also featured in several of Nicola’s social media updates from the celebration, which took place in Florida. The family donned matching cowboy hats for the occasion. Nicola shared a series of photos from a birthday meal hosted at their family home, showcasing the Peltz family’s joy.
One photograph captured Nelson Peltz surrounded by five of his sons, alongside Nicola and Brooklyn. Brooklyn stood near Nicola’s brother, Zach, while other sons including Diesel, Will, Bradley, and Greg were also present.
Growing Family Divide
These warm family snapshots may highlight the ongoing rift between Brooklyn and his biological family. Reports indicate he has not communicated with his parents for over a year. Public acknowledgments of his parents’ birthdays or significant life events have ceased since the reported fallout, which began around the time of David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations. The recent Father’s Day also passed without a public message from Brooklyn to his father.
Earlier this week, it was suggested that Brooklyn was upset by his parents including him in their Father’s Day posts and desires them to cease contact. Nicola Peltz Beckham also appeared to make a veiled reference to the Beckham family dynamic through a cryptic Instagram post featuring a quote about self-forgiveness: “Forgive yourself for not knowing earlier what only time could teach.”
David Beckham had seemingly extended an olive branch over the weekend, sharing a collage of photos that included an image of himself with Brooklyn as a child, alongside a picture with all four of his children. Victoria Beckham also included Brooklyn in her Father’s Day message to her husband.
Behind the Scenes of the Rift
While Brooklyn has maintained public silence, sources claim he is “fuming” about the situation. One insider revealed, “He’s fuming about it. He’s asked them to leave him alone and they just keep posting him.” The source added, “It just brings the whole thing up all over again. He wishes they’d leave it and leave him alone.”
Prior to Christmas last year, Brooklyn reportedly blocked his parents on Instagram. Legal representatives for Brooklyn are said to have subsequently contacted the Beckhams’ team, requesting that all communication be channeled through legal counsel.
Recent Commercial Controversy
Last week, Brooklyn faced accusations of exploiting his family ties for financial gain following the release of a two-part commercial for DoorDash. This occurred five months after he and Nicola expressed a desire for privacy. Fans criticized the collaboration, labeling it “classless” due to the sponsored nature of the video.
Reports suggest Brooklyn was compensated significantly for the advertisement, with one source indicating he received “at least $1million (£755,000)” for the campaign. However, some insiders within the Beckham circle reportedly viewed the advert negatively. An insider commented to Page Six, “Brooklyn claims he wants peace and privacy and nothing to do with his family – now he’s trying to cash in on it all.”
A teaser clip for the advert, released on June 15, featured Brooklyn remarking, “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the Fifa World Cup 2026 from home… It’s a long story.” This statement was interpreted by some as a jab at his parents, David and Victoria, with whom he is no longer on speaking terms, and as profiting from their name. Friends of the Beckhams have described the couple as “devastated and inconsolable” by the perceived taunt.
The longer version of the advert, released on Wednesday, drew further criticism from even Brooklyn’s supporters. In January, Brooklyn reportedly issued a six-page statement formally distancing himself from his family and declaring he was no longer part of “Brand Beckham.” He asserted that his parents and siblings were “performative” and claimed David and Victoria had exerted control over him for much of his life, attempted to create a rift between him and Nicola, and embarrassed him with Victoria’s behavior at his wedding.
