Cleveland Cavaliers Pull Off Upset Against Detroit Pistons

The Cleveland Cavaliers overcame the absence of star point guard Donovan Mitchell to secure a 113-109 victory over the Eastern Conference-leading Detroit Pistons. Jaylon Tyson led the way with 22 points, while James Harden and Evan Mobley each contributed 18 points in the hard-fought win at home.

Cleveland seized control early in the second quarter and maintained the lead through strong defense. Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson described the performance: “It’s a good win, not perfect by any means, but we’ll take it.”

Detroit’s Jalen Duren topped scorers with 24 points, but Cade Cunningham struggled, managing only 10 points under relentless pressure from the Cavs. Atkinson explained their strategy: “Just throw bodies at him, try to wear him down, contest everything and try to keep him off the free throw line.”

The Pistons hold a 45-15 record, leading Boston by four and a half games. Cleveland sits fourth in the East at 39-24.

San Antonio Spurs Demolish Philadelphia 76ers

The San Antonio Spurs delivered a commanding 131-91 rout of the Philadelphia 76ers on the road. Eight Spurs players reached double figures, with Devin Vassell and Dylan Harper each scoring 22 points.

San Antonio built a 49-point lead by the end of the third quarter, prompting many Sixers fans to leave early. Victor Wembanyama added 10 points and praised the team effort: “It wasn’t any amazing individual performance, it was just team play.” He continued, “When we’re locked in, when we feel like this as a team, I think we’re the best team in the world.”

Other Key NBA Results

The Oklahoma City Thunder solidified their Western Conference lead with a 116-108 win over the Chicago Bulls, staying three games ahead of the Spurs.

Anthony Edwards erupted for 41 points as the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 117-110. The New York Knicks also prevailed, beating the Toronto Raptors 111-95.
