Mykhailo Mudryk has not featured in professional football for 16 months due to a suspension. The Chelsea winger, aged 25, recently shared a video of his intensified training regime, hinting at an imminent return.
Striking New Appearance
In the Instagram story video, Mudryk sports long, dirty-blonde hair and a full beard, showcasing his ‘only Jesus’ tattoo. This marks a sharp contrast to his last Chelsea outing on November 28, 2024, when he had a buzz cut and no facial hair. He was an unused substitute three days later against Aston Villa.
Training at Non-League Venue
Mudryk trains at Uxbridge FC’s stadium in Yiewsley, a Southern League Premier Division South club less than an hour from Chelsea’s Cobham base. Limited by suspension terms from club facilities and teammates, he rents a pitch, goalkeeper, and private coach.
The footage reveals him in peak condition, repeatedly striking the ball into the top corner—a skill vital for his comeback.
Potential Pathways Forward
Chelsea monitors his progress closely. Reports indicate a possible loan to Strasbourg under Gary O’Neil, alongside former teammate Ben Chilwell. Competition intensifies with summer signings Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens, plus incoming Geovany Quenda, academy prospect Jesse Derry, and occasional left-sided play from Pedro Neto.
Since his December 2024 suspension, Mudryk has posted cryptic updates. On New Year’s Day, he wrote on Instagram: “Happy New Year to all my fans. I just wanted to say thank you for your support. I see all your messages and truly appreciate them, so please don’t give up on me as I will not give up on myself. Can’t wait to see you soon.”
The club awaits the case resolution before issuing comments.
