Utah Prison Death of Fugitive Rapist Confirmed
Nicholas Rossi, a 38-year-old convicted rapist who orchestrated his own death to evade justice, has died. Officials in Utah confirmed his passing on Thursday night at a local hospital, citing complications from a pre-existing medical condition.
Rossi had been serving a prison sentence in Utah after being apprehended and brought back to face charges. The Utah Department of Corrections stated that Rossi’s death occurred after he opted to cease receiving medical care that was being provided to him.
The convicted offender had previously fled to the United Kingdom, adopting a new identity and presenting himself as an Englishman in an attempt to escape extradition and prosecution. His elaborate scheme to fake his own demise ultimately failed, leading to his sentencing approximately a year ago.
Rossi was notably seen attending proceedings in Salt Lake City in August 2025, during which his case was being addressed.
