Coronation Avenue star Tony Maudsley was left ‘fuming’ after his cleaning soap character George Shuttleworth’s age was revealed
Coronation Avenue star Tony Maudsley has been supported by his co-stars after confirming the age of his character, George Shuttleworth.
Tony, 57, arrived in Weatherfield as George in 2020, and the character was quickly revealed to be the son of native undertaker Archie Shuttleworth (Roy Hudd).
Following his father’s demise, George took over operations of Shuttleworth’s Impartial Funeral Administrators on Tile Avenue and employed his pal Todd Grimshaw (Collect Pierce) as his sidekick.
In 2022, George’s household expanded when his sister Glenda, performed by Jodie Prenger, arrived on the Cobbles. The previous cruise ship entertainer immediately turned successful with viewers as a result of her shut relationship along with her beloved brother.

Throughout Monday’s episode of the ITV cleaning soap (December 29), Glenda was seen making ready for her birthday celebration on the Bistro, which is just a few weeks earlier than George’s sixtieth.
Because the occasion unfolded, it turned clear that it was simply George’s early get together to mark his milestone, which was the main focus of the occasion, not his youthful sister’s birthday.
Following the episode, Tony took to Instagram to joke that he appears too younger to play a 60-year-old character, and shared a surprising selfie alongside his co-star Jodie Prenger, who’s 46 in actual life.
Tony gently rests his cheek on Lucy’s head as they smile for the digicam.
Taking to the caption, he joked: “So Glenda’s 50 and George is 60!!! These Corrie writers clearly hate us as a result of neither of us appears a day over 28!! #Corrie.”
The pair’s co-star, Gareth Pierce, who portrays Todd Grimshaw, commented on the publish and said: “This can be a hate crime!” adopted by two love-struck emojis.
Daniel Brocklebank, who performs Billy Mayhew, added: “Blissful eightieth darling x”, whereas Eva Value star Catherine Tyldesley exclaimed: “My faves xxx.”
“Pretty picture of you each! Greatest on-screen siblings ever”, added one individual as one other shared: “Two ages that each of you’re nowhere close to clearly.”
“You already know I used to be pondering the identical factor”, confessed one fan.
