Tributes have been paid to Crossroads actor Tony Adams, who has died on the age of 84.
Adams died at Sussex County Hospital in Brighton on Saturday, along with his spouse Christine by his aspect, PA Media experiences.
Anthony Sawley Adams was born in Anglesey, Wales, in 1940 and later educated as an actor on the Italia Conti theatre faculty.
Following performances on the stage, he made his title as Dr Neville Bywaters within the Seventies cleaning soap Common Hospital and appeared within the Dr Who sequence The Inexperienced Loss of life.
In 1978, he took on the position of accountant Adam Likelihood in cleaning soap Crossroads – the position for which he turned greatest identified.
The sequence resulted in 1988 after greater than 4,500 episodes, with Adams staying till the top.
He was one of many authentic forged members, together with Jane Rossington and Kathy Employees, who returned when the cleaning soap was revived in 2001.
Adams then appeared within the stage model of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on the London Palladium Theatre, the place he performed Grandpa Potts, in 2004.
In 2023, he had a cameo position in Nolly – a three-part drama created by Russell T Davies which tells the story of Crossroads actress Noele Gordon.
Actor Augustus Prew, who performed Adams within the drama, described him as a ‘magical man’ throughout interviews on the time.
Michael Rose, of The Michael Rose Organisation Ltd, paid tribute to Adams as an ‘absolute pleasure’ and a proficient actor, dancer and singer.
‘He was one of many warmest gents you can want to work with,’ Rose stated.
‘He was an absolute pleasure. He was a dancer initially however there was nothing Tony couldn’t do.
‘He was a really achieved actor, he was a extremely good dancer and singer.
‘He performed Grandpa Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and was a pleasure to have within the firm, as he was in each firm.
‘We will miss him.’
