Darren Day beamed with pride as he displayed a baby outfit for his newborn grandson while heading to the theater for his pantomime performance. The 57-year-old actor and his former partner Susanne Shaw, 44, recently shared that their son Corey has welcomed his first child, a boy named Colton, with girlfriend Erin.
Proud Grandfather Overcomes Injury
Despite a recent emergency room visit, Day arrived at the venue energized for his role in the touring production of Mother Goose. On Friday, he sought treatment for a broken scaphoid in his wrist and a chipped radial head bone in his elbow, just hours before taking the stage.
Day shared an update on Instagram, stating: “Hello everyone. Happy Easter to all. I hope you’re having a fantastic day with your loved ones. Thank you to everybody about your messages of me becoming a grandad and also about the fact that I’ve got a broken wrist, a broken scaphoid. I’ve got a chipped radial head bone in my elbow. It’s been painful.”
Stage Return in Mother Goose
Day portrays the villainous Demon Vanity opposite Helen Flanagan as Princess Jill and Basil Brush as King Basil in this Easter-themed show. The incident occurred as he prepared for the second performance at Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury. Co-star Flanagan responded supportively to his post: “You’re the best Darren love you loads.”
The cast continues their month-long UK tour with Anson Benson Productions, culminating on April 19 at Victoria Theatre in Halifax.
Family Joy After Turbulent Past
Susanne Shaw announced the birth on Instagram, writing: “Something beautiful, something true. My baby boy Corey became a father to a precious son, wrapped softly in blue.” The former couple, who share a history marked by challenges including their 2005 split, now present a united front with the newborn.
Day playfully noted their age difference in a caption: “Grandad loves you so much… and is actually old enough to be a grandparent, unlike Nanny! @suzi_shaw.”
