The Miami Dolphins are rebuilding their roster this offseason, but running back De’Von Achane remains off-limits. Multiple teams have expressed interest in acquiring the 24-year-old star, yet Miami has firmly shut down all trade discussions, signaling their commitment to keeping him.
Achane’s Role in Miami’s Future
Achane enters the final year of his four-year rookie contract and fits seamlessly into new head coach Jeff Hafley’s long-term vision. Last season, he delivered a career-best performance, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns. He also excelled in the passing game with 67 receptions for 488 yards and four scores.
Miami’s general manager, Jon-Eric Sullivan, underscored Achane’s importance during the NFL scouting combine. “I mean, he’s a marvelous player,” Sullivan stated. “We want him to be part of this thing moving forward. … We will have those conversations with him as well as some other guys as we move down the road, but that’s going to be later in the summer.”
Major Roster Overhaul Continues
While holding onto Achane, the Dolphins have made several high-profile moves. They recently traded wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, along with a fourth-round pick, in exchange for Denver’s first-round selection (30th overall), a third-round pick, and another fourth-rounder.
Earlier this month, Miami released quarterback Tua Tagovailoa following a disappointing 2025 season that saw the team finish 7-10 and miss the playoffs. The 28-year-old, who signed a four-year, $212 million extension in July 2024, has been replaced by Malik Willis.
Other departures include controversial wideout Tyreek Hill, released last month, and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, traded to the New York Jets last week for a 2026 seventh-round pick originally belonging to the Los Angeles Chargers.
