A 23-year-old social media influencer from Glasgow faces potential imprisonment after authorities discovered over 17 kilograms of cannabis, valued at up to £151,000, hidden in her suitcase at Edinburgh Airport.

Court Admission and Arrest Details

Ellie Crampsie, known for her presence in Glasgow’s nightlife and events scene where she promotes brands, also runs a beauty business called Brows by Ellie specializing in styling and treatments. She admitted to being concerned in the supply of cannabis at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on March 26.

Border Force officers stopped Crampsie on April 16, 2024, upon her arrival from Thailand via Paris on an Air France flight. Prosecutor Emma Laing told the court: “She was asked the usual questions by the officer and she confirmed she had travelled from Thailand. Her luggage was opened and a number of vacuum packages were within.”

Officials found 17 sealed packages containing 17.7 kilograms of the Class B drug, with an estimated street value between £115,000 and £151,000.

Defence and Sentencing Adjournment

Defence solicitor Mr. Hodge noted that Crampsie is single and receives support from her parents, who attended court. He described her prior criminal record as “unremarkable in the context of this offence” and requested continued bail pending a social work report.

Sheriff Graeme Watson adjourned sentencing to obtain a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment. He continued her bail conditions, stating: “That should be no prejudgment of what comes next, all sentencing options will be open to me on the next occasion, do you understand that?”
