Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson stays committed to his current form despite growing speculation about a possible summer move. The England international, valued at £100 million by his club, draws attention from Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, and several elite teams.
Focus on Performances Amid Rumors
Anderson has become a key player for Forest since joining from Newcastle in 2024. He remains dedicated to the team, especially ahead of the Europa League play-off second leg against Fenerbahce.
“I’m just focusing on my football at the moment and performing and trying to give everything for Nottingham Forest, really,” Anderson said during a press conference previewing the match. “So that’s all that’s on my mind.”
He reflected on his progress: “It’s been a big two years. I think I’ve done pretty well, to be honest, in the time I’ve been here, on and off the pitch. I think I’ve matured as a person as well. Thanks to the club, really, for giving me that platform, going out there and playing and letting me do my stuff.”
Career Move from Newcastle
Anderson left his boyhood club Newcastle due to profit and sustainability rules. He views the transfer positively: “Obviously in players’ careers, you never know where you’re going to be. Moving from your hometown is a big step in your career. And it was definitely something that I needed to do and it has turned out really well. So I was happy I made that step.”
England National Team Prospects
England manager Thomas Tuchel favors Anderson, often pairing him with Arsenal’s Declan Rice. Anderson hopes to secure his starting spot: “I hope so. There’s just so many good players in the England team. Obviously, I’ve played this year, but I’m also needing to perform in the Premier League, in the Europa League, to keep the spot.”
His consistent displays position him for a likely start as England pursues World Cup success this summer.
Manager Backs Squad Commitment
Teammate Morgan Gibbs-White faces similar links to Manchester United. Forest manager Vitor Pereira emphasizes focus: “I’m not hearing this. Every day is work. I feel they are very committed to our target, which is the most important thing.”
Pereira praised both players: “He is a top player, a captain; a top player with spirit. Elliot is the same – a top player with spirit. That’s why I accepted the job, because I have very good players. We need to prove – every day with our work and on the pitch – we don’t just have talent in the team but we can also create a strong team together.”
Forest holds a strong 3-0 lead heading into Thursday’s second leg, positioning them well for the Europa League last 16.
