Emily Andre, the NHS doctor and wife of singer Peter Andre, has firmly ruled out having a fourth child following a severe medical complication after giving birth to daughter Arabella in 2024.

Emergency Surgery Ordeal

Emily, 36, endured a harrowing experience shortly after Arabella’s arrival. She developed a rare and severe hernia, described as her “bowels falling out,” which prompted fears of a life-threatening emergency. Just one week after birth, she underwent urgent surgery while breastfeeding and heartbroken at being separated from her newborn.

Medics warned that another pregnancy could undo the surgical repairs and lead to serious complications. One doctor directly advised against future pregnancies, a recommendation Emily took to heart.

Podcast Revelation

On the podcast hosted by Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy, Abbey asked if Emily was finished expanding her family. Emily responded bluntly: “A hundred percent done.”

She detailed the trauma: “This time I had quite a difficult time after she was born, I had to have emergency surgery. She was only a week old and she was being prised from my arms, it was horrible.”

Emily noticed a large lump in her abdomen post-delivery, leading to an immediate surgical review. Consultants admitted they had never encountered such a case in their careers. The hernia risked strangling her bowel, escalating it into a critical situation. In the evening, a surgeon insisted on instant hospitalization.

Peter Andre’s Concern

Peter Andre shared his distress: “I have never, ever seen you like that before, I was really worried. You’ve taught me not to be so worried, because you being a doctor, but this was horrible. You went through it, big time.”

Touching Moment Amid Trauma

During the ordeal, a kind porter provided a moment of comfort in the operating theater. As Emily lay on the table in tears, he revealed it was the same room where Peter had been treated years earlier—where he first met Emily’s father, who performed the surgery. Emily later shared on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast: “He said, ‘Oh, you know, I brought Pete here into this theatre when he had…’ This was exactly where he lay. This is the room where he met your dad.”

The couple already shares three children, and Emily’s health scare has solidified her decision against more.
