Fans express outrage over a luxury hot dog priced at $150 offered at the Miami Grand Prix, elevating the event’s reputation for high-end concessions around Hard Rock Stadium.
Luxury Menu Highlights
Chèvre Miami partners with TV personality Jonathan Cheban, known as ‘Foodgod,’ and Golden Goat Caviar to serve premium items. The standout ‘Golden Glizzy’ features an Australian Wagyu beef hot dog topped with crème fraîche, 30 grams of Ossetra caviar, chives, and 24-karat gold flakes for $100.
An upgraded ‘Foodgod edition’ swaps in pricier Almas caviar, pushing the price to $150. Other options include the $125 ‘Gold Digger’ steak sandwich made with Wagyu beef bresaola, Golden Goat caviar, confit onions, crispy onions, 24-karat gold flakes, and black Perigord truffle mayo.
Visitors can grab a combo of two ‘Golden Glizzy’ hot dogs and two ‘Gold Digger’ sandwiches—or one of each—for $195. A more affordable choice is the $30 caviar-topped Basque cheesecake bite.
Social Media Backlash
Social media users react strongly to the steep prices. One commenter states, ‘I’ll stick with my $1.50 Costco [hot dog emoji].’ Another calls it ‘absolutely tone deaf.’ Remarks include, ‘That’s an electric bill right there,’ and ‘Who do they think they are, FIFA?’ A humorous post reads, ‘If you would buy this I have some blinker fluid to sell you.’
Event and Celebrity Ties
Cheban, who helped design the menu, maintains close ties to the Kardashian family. Recent reports link Kim Kardashian, 45, romantically to Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton, 41.
Race Schedule
Drivers return after an extended break since the Japanese Grand Prix in late March. Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix scheduled for mid-April were canceled due to the ongoing war in Iran.
Action resumes Friday with Free Practice 1, followed by sprint race qualifying. Saturday features the sprint race and main Grand Prix qualifying. The main race starts at 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.
