Jason Tessmann, a dairy farmer from Queensland who starred on the reality dating series Farmer Wants A Wife, has confirmed his relationship with fellow contestant Poppy has ended. However, the former couple are reportedly at odds regarding the exact timeline of their breakup, with differing accounts of when the romance officially concluded.

Jason, 37, revealed that Poppy, 31, a business manager, ended their relationship shortly after the show’s reunion special. He described the breakup as blindsiding, stating that the romance dissolved within days of filming wrapping up. “It was something I wasn’t expecting,” Jason told New Idea. “She said she wasn’t feeling it… It’s basically all she said, really.”
Conversely, Poppy has presented a different narrative, suggesting that the couple continued their relationship for approximately three months following the reunion. She indicated that the breakup was not immediate.
Jason detailed his recollection of the events, stating, “I think the reunion was like on a Friday. We flew back to Brisbane on a Saturday. I drove back home on Sunday morning. She went back to her place, and texting went pretty quiet on her end during the week, and then she called me and said, ‘It’s over’.”
Poppy’s Perspective on the Relationship’s End
Poppy explained her decision to end the relationship, citing fundamental differences and a lack of the anticipated romantic connection. “It was just differences. I didn’t feel that attraction as much as I thought I might have or hoped,” she stated. “I didn’t want to string anybody along. I spent time getting to know him through the show and afterwards, and I just felt he wasn’t my kind of person I could see long-term, despite giving it lots of time and chances.”
She emphasized that the decision was made after an honest conversation. “It was as simple as a phone call,” Poppy said. “I called him and spoke openly, telling him I wasn’t feeling the way I wanted by then, after those few months of getting to know him… I didn’t think it would be fair to continue when I just wasn’t feeling that way.”

“She met my kids and family, and we had Christmas together. So everything seemed to be going all right at that time,” Jason recalled. “My kids obviously liked her, and she got on well with them, and they were a bit upset when she left, so, obviously, telling them wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but… she wasn’t feeling it.”
