Jets Wide Receiver Garrett Wilson Expresses Sticker Shock Over NBA Finals Ticket Prices

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is enthusiastic about the New York Knicks’ potential NBA Finals victory but finds the cost of attending games prohibitively expensive, even with his substantial NFL earnings.

The Knicks are making their first appearance in the NBA Finals in nearly three decades, aiming for their first championship since 1973. Their path to victory involves a matchup against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals.

Exorbitant Resale Market Prices

Ticket prices for the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden are reaching astronomical figures on the resale market. Reports indicate that the cheapest ticket for Game 3 in New York is listed at over $4,700, with seats for Game 6 priced at more than $5,100. The most expensive ticket available for Game 6 is listed at an astonishing $224,000.

Even for Wilson, who recently signed a four-year contract extension worth $130 million, averaging $32.5 million annually, these prices are beyond reach. “I’m glad I’m up here for it – I’m rooting the Knicks on like hell,” Wilson stated when discussing the finals.

However, when questioned about attending any games, Wilson expressed his reservations. “Them jawns are expensive. So, not yet. I’m gonna be watching,” he admitted, highlighting the steep cost of admission.

Knicks’ Success Inspires Jets

Wilson also commented on how the Knicks’ success is motivating his own team, the Jets, who are currently enduring the longest active playoff drought in North American professional sports at 15 years.

“The city deserves it,” Wilson continued. “Then, when you see the way they receive it, it’s just like we wish it could happen every year. Seeing the people, the way they get behind their team. I know Jet fans are frothing at the mouth to cheer like that, and we want to give it to them. I personally want to give it to them the most.”

He added, “That gives us a taste of what it might look like when we figure this thing out… we’re excited for the opportunity.”

The NBA Finals are scheduled to begin with Game 1 in San Antonio on Wednesday, June 3.
