Renowned TV chef Gordon Ramsay shared a heartfelt moment from his daughter Holly’s wedding, revealing he shed tears upon seeing the price tag on her gown. The 26-year-old influencer married Olympian Adam Peaty in a lavish ceremony at Bath Abbey last December, attended by high-profile guests such as Sir David Beckham and Lady Victoria Beckham.
Emotional Reactions on the Big Day
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Ramsay explained his emotional response stemmed from both the gown’s expense and overwhelming pride in his daughter’s growth. “I was very emotional, I was crying because I realized how expensive the dress was then,” he stated. He further noted that seeing Holly in her wedding attire for the first time filled him with joy, adding, “It just gets you.”
Holly’s elegant gown, crafted by designer Elie Saab—a specialist in bridal couture since the 1980s—featured a high neckline, lace sleeves, and a dramatic veil that trailed the 65-meter aisle of Bath Abbey. She drew inspiration from iconic dresses worn by Kate Middleton and Grace Kelly.
Holly previously mentioned that her father displayed the most emotion throughout the wedding preparations. “Dad cries every time I talk about the wedding,” she said. “The other day I was asking him which car he and I would take to the church, and he welled up immediately.”
Family Dynamics and Celebrations
The event proceeded without Peaty’s parents, Caroline and Mark, due to a prior family disagreement. Caroline publicly expressed disappointment over not receiving an invitation to Holly’s hen party and confirmed she had considered attending the wedding uninvited but ultimately chose not to.
Despite the tensions, Ramsay expressed deep affection in an Instagram post before the ceremony: “I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son-in-law @adam_peaty! I love you so much @hollyramsayy and couldn’t be a prouder Dad xxx.”
Ramsay, father to six children, saw daughters Tilly, 24, and Megan, 27, serve as bridesmaids alongside Holly. His sons include Jack, 25, Oscar, 6, and Jesse, 2. Peaty and Holly reportedly connected through her sister Tilly during their participation in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
Engagement Announcement
The couple announced their engagement on September 12, 2024, via Instagram. Holly posted: “I am marrying my best friend. I truly cannot put into words how I am feeling right now.” Peaty echoed the sentiment: “I can’t believe you’re going to be my wife. I’m truly the luckiest man on earth to have such a gentle, caring and beautiful woman by my side.”
