Actress Helen Flanagan Eyes Marriage for Next Relationship, Reflects on Memoir’s Honesty
Actress Helen Flanagan has expressed a strong conviction that her next romantic partnership will lead to marriage, while also acknowledging potential oversharing in her recent book, Head & Heart: Break-ups, Breakdowns and Being Rosie. The former Coronation Street star, who recently appeared on Celebrity Ex On The Beach, shared her thoughts on navigating public life and the candid nature of her latest publication.
Speaking with interviewer Lewis Nicholls, Flanagan, a mother of three, discussed the challenges of living in the public eye. “I think it’s a difficult one because sometimes you can choose, sometimes I do find it difficult, but then again I have spoke about things, so you have to find a way to deal with it,” she stated. “I’ve got friends that are actors and actresses, and they have already chose to be more private about things.”
Memoir Reflections and Future Intentions
Flanagan admitted to a degree of regret regarding the content of her book. “I have spoke about things, like I wrote a book. I don’t know, maybe if I was too honest in my book a little bit, but it’s done now. It’s written,” she reflected. “The book is there, so there’s no taking it back. I was actually talking about mental health, and wanted to give context to it.”
Looking ahead, the actress articulated a clear vision for future relationships. “I do feel that when I do next have my next relationship, and I think that when I have my next relationship, I think it will be my husband,” Flanagan revealed. “I think it will be the real thing. I will choose to protect it and I will keep that private. I will probably say, who that person is, but I will want to protect it. I will want to keep it private.” She emphasized her desire to cherish such a connection, stating, “I’ll want to keep it really special, because I kind of feel like everybody’s always got something to say. My next relationship I have I think will be my husband, because I won’t be wasting my time, really. I will want to choose to protect it, definitely.”
Views on Children and Public Life
Regarding her children potentially entering the entertainment industry, Flanagan expressed reservations. “I wouldn’t want for my daughter, I mean, do not get me wrong, I’m very grateful for my life and I love my life – I’ve had lots of opportunities – but I wouldn’t want this kind of thing for my daughter,” she confirmed. “I just wouldn’t. I do feel blessed, but I wouldn’t want it for her at all.”
Personal Life Developments
The single mother recently relocated from her former marital home, which she shared with ex-fiancé Scott Sinclair. Flanagan and Sinclair parted ways in 2022 after a 13-year relationship. The couple share three children: Matilda, 10, Delilah, 7, and Charlie, 5. Earlier this year, it was reported that Flanagan had moved out of the family home, valued at approximately £1 million, as the property is solely in Sinclair’s name and the couple never married.
Last year, the house was listed for sale, initially at £1.5 million, with a subsequent price reduction to £995,000. Flanagan has previously spoken out about Sinclair, criticizing his alleged lack of involvement in their children’s lives and her financial situation following their separation.
These recent reflections follow Flanagan’s appearance on Celebrity Ex on the Beach, where she admitted to feeling “old” while filming due to her past relationships, including her breakups with both Scott Sinclair and Robbie Talbot. The reality show, filmed in Tenerife, also featured other personalities such as Dani Imbert, Toby Aromolaran, John Grimes, and Amy Kenyon.
