I’m A Celeb All-Stars Final Explodes in Editing Row Over Thomas Win

Published on

Adam Thomas, the soap actor, claimed victory in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! All Stars finale, but the celebration quickly turned chaotic as fellow contestants accused producers of editing footage to favor him.

Explosive On-Stage Clash

During Friday night’s live broadcast from South Africa, tensions boiled over during a post-challenge panel. Jimmy Bullard, 47, and David Haye, 45, confronted Thomas, 37, claiming the aired footage omitted aggressive moments from their earlier disputes. Bullard described Thomas’s behavior as “abusive, aggressive, and intimidating” after quitting a trial by calling “I’m A Celebrity,” which risked Thomas’s position.

Hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly struggled to maintain order. Bullard challenged campmates, prompting Gemma Collins, 45, and Sinitta, 62, to walk off stage. Harry Redknapp, 79, a former winner, remained silent when questioned. Ant intervened, stating, “Right, let’s leave it there. We’ll agree to disagree.” He later told Bullard and Haye, “You weren’t there.”

Bullard admitted, “Listen, Adam and all of you can be upset with me and I absolutely threw him under the bus, I get it and I’ll wear that. But what I don’t stand on is someone being abusive, aggressive and intimidating.” He added to the hosts, “You were there and you didn’t show any of that [footage]… You didn’t show any of the C-bombs, it’s a liberty.”

Ant responded, “The reason we didn’t air the C-bomb is because that is unbroadcastable. I was there and I didn’t think it was intimidating. I was there, Jim.”

Thomas took responsibility: “I take full responsibility for my actions and yes emotions were definitely running high in that moment. I have nothing but love for Jimmy in that moment. I have apologised to Jimmy on numerous occasions… That is not how I want to show myself off.” Haye interjected, “Funny way of showing it,” before hosts urged him to stop. Haye continued, “I like to say how I see it… what I have seen is a lot of editing to make this poor guy [Adam] the victim.”

Sinitta declared while leaving, “Guys, you weren’t there – I was there and it was aggressive and abusive, we were shaking.” Bullard shouted, “You can’t be aggressive, abusive and intimidating – it doesn’t matter if Adam said sorry.”

Aftermath and Viewer Reactions

Post-finale, Ant encountered Bullard outside, with security intervening. Filmed last September and October, the series featured ongoing feuds. A show representative stated, “We showed an accurate and fair representation of events.”

Viewers split on social media. One commented, “David and Jimmy are embarrassing themselves.” Another noted, “Multiple camp mates who were there have backed up Bullard’s claims and have criticised the editing… Not like they would lie.” Others said, “Just shows how clever editing can ruin someone” and “I now need to go watch this series.”

Craig Charles, fourth-place finisher, later remarked on a spin-off, “I’ll always remember it for tears of laughter… But they didn’t really show much of that – it kind of got sidetracked by the controversy.”

Reality TV’s History of Drama

This finale ranks among reality TV’s most intense moments. Big Brother’s 2000 debut featured “Nasty Nick” Bateman’s disqualification for vote manipulation. In 2007, Jade Goody faced backlash for racist remarks toward Shilpa Shetty, sparking over 44,500 Ofcom complaints. Goody died of cancer in 2009 at 27.

Such shows shifted toward confrontation, influencing modern formats.
