A senior Iranian lawmaker cautions that any U.S. involvement in the Strait of Hormuz breaches the current ceasefire, following President Trump’s proposal to escort foreign vessels from the waterway as a humanitarian measure.

Iranian Parliament’s Strong Response

Ebrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliamentary national security commission, states on X that the Persian Gulf will not bow to external directives. He declares, ‘Any American interference in the new maritime regime of the Strait of Hormuz will be considered a violation of the ceasefire. The Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf would not be managed by delusional posts! No one would believe blame game scenarios!’

Trump Launches ‘Project Freedom’

President Trump announces ‘Project Freedom,’ set to commence Monday morning Middle East time, to guide neutral ships safely out of restricted areas. He explains, ‘For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these countries that we will guide their ships safely out of these restricted waterways, so that they can freely and ably get on with their business.’

Trump emphasizes that these vessels belong to nations uninvolved in regional conflicts. He adds, ‘These are ships from areas of the world that are not in any way involved with that which is currently taking place in the Middle East. I have told my representatives to inform them that we will use best efforts to get their ships and crews safely out of the strait. In all cases, they said they will not be returning until the area becomes safe for navigation.’

The president notes ongoing positive discussions with Iran that could yield broader benefits. He describes the initiative as freeing innocent parties victimized by circumstances.

Iran’s 14-Point War-End Proposal

Trump reviews Iran’s latest 14-point plan, which demands an end to hostilities within 30 days rather than extending the ceasefire. The proposal, reported by Nour News agency with ties to Iranian security, calls for lifting U.S. sanctions, ending the naval blockade, withdrawing regional forces, and halting operations including those in Lebanon.

Pakistan previously hosted U.S.-Iran talks, and while Trump dismissed an earlier Iranian offer, negotiations persist amid the three-week ceasefire.

Strait of Hormuz Tensions

Iran closed the strait after U.S. and Israeli strikes began on February 28, attacking and threatening ships while later allowing some safe passage near its shores for fees. The U.S. imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports starting April 13, cutting off vital oil revenues and straining Tehran’s economy.

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi conferred with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr al Busaidi, who facilitated prior U.S.-Iran dialogues before recent escalations.
