Jackie O Speaks Out After Kyle Sandilands Clash Ends $100M Deal

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s long-running partnership on the Kyle and Jackie O Show at KIIS FM Sydney concludes formally through an ASX announcement, marking the end of her over 20-year career in shock radio.

The Incident That Led to the Split

On February 20, tensions boiled over when Kyle Sandilands, Henderson’s co-host of more than two decades, criticized her interest in astrology during a live broadcast. He accused her fixation on the subject of impacting her performance, prompting Henderson to leave the studio in tears.

The clash began when Henderson read an astrology chart for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor amid news of his arrest. Sandilands called her approach ‘almost unworkable,’ escalating their on-air dispute.

Henderson’s First Public Comments

Hours before the official announcement, Henderson visited Frequency Lab, a wellness studio in Sydney’s Newtown, with friend Steve Cordony, an interior designer. Emerging from a ‘sound medicine’ session called Empower: Dynamic Fire Element, she appeared composed in a white sundress.

‘Good! I’m good!’ she said with a smile. When asked about the session, she replied, ‘Very good… feeling healed. Yes, healing.’

Queried on her return to the airwaves, Henderson responded coyly: ‘I can’t really say anything on that front at this point. I’m sorry.’

Pressed about contact with Sandilands since the incident, she looked alarmed, entered her black SUV, and drove away.

The 90-minute class, priced at $75 per person, involves lying on waterbeds while experiencing drums, didgeridoo, gongs, and voice activations to awaken inner strength.

Behind-the-Scenes Developments

ARN’s stock update revealed Henderson informed them she ‘cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands.’ Insiders indicate communication since February 20 occurred only via text, management, or representatives Gemma O’Neill and Bruno Bouchet.

Henderson’s affinity for alternative therapies aligns with her astrology interest, which Sandilands publicly dismissed.

Sandilands’ Response and Suspension

On air before the announcement, Sandilands expressed optimism: ‘Jackie will be returning in the future. So that’s a good sign. The intention is to come back, which is fabulous.’

He later admitted regret: ‘I obviously upset her. Maybe, in hindsight, I shouldn’t have said it on the air… I regret hurting her feelings.’

ARN suspended Sandilands for 14 days to ‘remedy’ the breach, citing serious misconduct under his services agreement with Quasar Media. He aims for a happy return: ‘I want her to be happy and enjoy it. I also want the same thing.’

Future Prospects

Henderson walked from a record $100 million contract, part of a 2023 $200 million 10-year deal, Australia’s largest media contract. ARN offers her an alternative show on the network.

Industry observers note growing professional frustrations in their uneven partnership, with Henderson recently signaling readiness to leave if unhappy.
