In a bizarre turn during the Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson undercard on Saturday night, heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller experienced an unforgettable wardrobe malfunction when his wig was knocked off mid-fight.
The Unexpected Ring Incident
Miller, 37, faced Kingsley Ibeh in his return to the ring following a controversial draw against Andy Ruiz Jr. in August 2024. As the two heavyweights exchanged blows, the second round delivered more than just punches—it produced a spectacle that stole the show.
Ibeh’s strike sent Miller’s toupee flying forward before it flopped backward, exposing his bald scalp. The wig dangled precariously for the remainder of the round, leaving spectators in disbelief. DAZN commentator Chris Mannix captured the moment’s absurdity, stating, “I’ve never seen anything like it in boxing.”
Miller took the mishap in stride, chuckling at the embarrassment. At the round’s end, he dramatically tossed the wig into the crowd, eliciting a roaring response from the audience.
Miller Secures Victory Despite Distraction
The incident failed to derail Miller’s focus. He pressed on and claimed a split decision win with scores of 94-96, 97-93, and 97-93.
Post-fight, Miller shared a lighthearted explanation for the mishap. “So, it’s kinda funny, right. I get to my mama’s house, and she had some shampoo bottles under her table, and I shampooed it. That s*** was like ammonia and bleach. I nearly lost my hair like two days ago, so I called my manager: ‘Let me slap that s*** on my head real quick.’ And [Ibeh] slapped that s*** off!” he said.
