Jeremy Clarkson, the 65-year-old former Top Gear host, has voiced strong frustration over AI-generated misinformation that’s distressing his Diddly Squat Farm team, including partner Lisa Hogan and manager Kaleb Cooper. The impact has been particularly harsh on farmhand Gerald Cooper, who gained recognition through the Amazon Prime Video series Clarkson’s Farm.
AI Misinformation Sparks Concern
Clarkson highlighted the growing issue of individuals using AI tools to fabricate images and spread false narratives about his colleagues on social media platforms. He addressed the broader worries surrounding AI, especially its role in producing deepfake sexualized content, which has led the UK government to enact legislation criminalizing the creation or solicitation of non-consensual intimate images.
In a recent column, Clarkson described the problem: “There’s a lot of talk at the moment about how idiots with an AI tool on their phone can post pictures of girls they know without any clothes on. But that’s not the extent of the problem.”
He detailed specific falsehoods circulating on Facebook: “On Facebook this week, we heard from just my farm alone that Gerald has died, Kaleb has had another kid, Lisa has left me and I’ve broken my leg. All of the stories were accompanied by a completely realistic photograph. And all of them were complete nonsense.”
Worries for Gerald Cooper
The television personality, known for hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, ed particular concern for Gerald, who remains unaccustomed to public attention. Clarkson noted the emotional toll: “Do I mind? Yes. Mostly because Gerald is unused to being in the public eye and it worries him that his kids see this kind of thing online.”
He issued a direct appeal: “So whoever’s doing it, pack it in. And stop digitally removing clothes as well, you halfwits.”
Previous False Reports Debunked
This marks the second instance of Gerald facing fabricated stories. Just before Christmas, Lisa Hogan refuted rumors claiming the Cotswolds farm’s “Head of Security” had been hospitalized. Gerald, a cancer survivor, appeared in a cheerful Instagram video shared by Hogan, dancing and smiling.
Her caption clarified: “G-Dwag doing his thang. No he hasn’t been in hospital, that’s all fake, really stupid and very mean. He’s a dancin and a laughing. Happy Christmas to Gerald and Family.”
