Jordan Brook, the partner of pregnant Sophie Kasaei, has been discharged from the hospital following a severe battle with viral meningitis and encephalitis.
The 31-year-old was admitted last month after doctors diagnosed him with viral meningitis, an inflammation of the brain and spinal cord linings, distinct from recent bacterial meningitis B cases. He also faced encephalitis, a rare and potentially fatal brain inflammation.
Heartfelt Hospital Farewell
In a recent Instagram update, Jordan shared a video thanking the medical team at Basildon Hospital and bidding them goodbye. His partner Sophie, who is seven months pregnant with their first child—a baby boy—was there to pick him up. A touching moment captured Jordan kneeling to kiss her baby bump.
Jordan detailed his ordeal in a lengthy post: “22 days in a hospital bed, broken memory from my first admission. The top 1% percent of the worst case of viral meningitis and encephalitis that my Dr has ever seen. Brain swelling, inflammation. Acute memory loss. The only memories I have are ones I would like to forget forever.”
He expressed profound gratitude to his loved ones, starting with Sophie: “Firstly my @sophiekasaei_ you and my baby boy have held me up and kept me in this fight like you wouldn’t believe. You are my whole life and I love you unconditionally. I can’t wait to get in bed with you tonight and start our future as a healthy family of 3.”
Jordan praised his father as his “superman” and “rock,” thanking him for endless support, and his mother for her tireless hospital shifts despite her own challenges. He also thanked extended family and friends for their visits and unwavering backing.
The post concluded with thanks to the hospital staff: “Drs and nurses and all staff who I feel have become a family to me. Thank you for everything you have done for me I owe you so much. Your compassion your warmth and total understanding at times when I was being extremely scared and hard work. You never turned your backs on me. Thank you for saving my life! You are a credit to the NHS, to humanity and amazing, kind, extremely hardworking people!”
Sophie’s Ordeal and Fan Support
Sophie, 36, previously called it the “worst month of our lives,” noting Jordan suffered seizures as a side effect. She shared: “Worst month of our lives I never wish this on anyone. As I go into my third trimester I pray for the day he comes home to me and we can enjoy these last few weeks preparing for our precious baby. That’s all I can hold onto right now. Life is so unpredictable and it makes you appreciate so much more when you go through these times.”
Fans celebrated the news with messages like: “SO GLAD TO HEAR THIS!! Xx sending lots of love,” “Wonderful news!! So happy for you guys and your family too,” and “Best news knew u would fight and get home well done.”
