Singer-songwriter Jorja Smith is set to headline The O2 in London as part of the iconic venue’s 20th-anniversary celebrations. The announcement marks a significant moment for the artist, as this will be her first-ever headline performance at the renowned arena. The concert is scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2027, and is anticipated to be her sole UK arena performance of that year.

A Milestone Performance for Jorja Smith

Jorja Smith, a two-time BRIT Award winner, expressed her excitement about participating in the landmark event. “Performing at The O2 as part of its 20th birthday celebrations is a huge honour,” she stated. “It’s a venue that has hosted so many incredible artists and unforgettable moments over the years, so to be part of this milestone feels really special. I’m excited to celebrate with you all.” This performance underscores her growing stature in the music industry and her connection with London’s vibrant music scene.

The O2: Two Decades of Entertainment

The O2, originally opened as the Millennium Dome in December 1999, underwent a significant transformation and reopened as the O2 Arena in June 2007. To commemorate two decades since its relaunch as an entertainment hub, the venue is hosting a series of special concerts throughout 2027. This initiative aims to celebrate the venue’s rich history and its contribution to the live music landscape.

Christian D’Acuna, Vice President of Programming at The O2, highlighted the significance of Jorja Smith’s inclusion. “We are so pleased to welcome Jorja Smith, for what will be her only UK arena performance of 2027, to our ever-growing 20th birthday line-up,” he commented. “The show will be Jorja’s first-ever headline performance at the venue, making it a special moment both for us at The O2 and for her fans.” This sentiment emphasizes the unique nature of the upcoming concert.

A Stellar Line-up for the Anniversary

Jorja Smith joins an impressive roster of artists who are celebrating The O2’s 20th anniversary with performances throughout 2027. The anniversary concert series kicked off with Maisie Peters on Saturday, May 8. Following her performance, Shreya Ghoshal is scheduled to take the stage on Friday, June 4. The line-up also includes Don Omar, who will perform on Monday, July 5, adding a diverse range of genres to the celebratory events.

Upcoming Anniversary Concerts:

The O2’s Enduring Impact on Live Entertainment

Since its inception as an entertainment venue in 2007, The O2 has established itself as a premier destination for live performances, hosting over 3,000 shows and attracting more than 100 million visitors. Its consistent ability to draw major international artists and cater to diverse audiences solidifies its position as a cornerstone of the UK’s live music and entertainment industry.

Jorja Smith’s Latest Musical Endeavors

The upcoming headline show at The O2 follows a period of significant artistic development for Jorja Smith. She recently released her new album, ‘What Are The Odds,’ which has been met with critical acclaim. The album has been described as a reflection of Smith at her most comfortable, exploring her emotional landscape with a blend of honesty and charm. Critics have noted the record’s endearing quality, its brutal honesty, and its ultimately fun, cathartic nature. The review highlighted how Smith, after a decade in the spotlight, comes of age once again on this album, demonstrating boldness in her instincts and a newfound ability to find humor in her experiences.

In addition to her solo album and The O2 performance, Smith is also slated to co-headline the All Points East festival in London alongside Tems, further cementing her status as a prominent figure in contemporary music. Her career trajectory, marked by critical praise and a growing fan base, makes her headline slot at The O2 a highly anticipated event for both the artist and her supporters.
