Justyn Ross, a former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, sparked controversy during his debut with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL season opener against the Louisville Kings. Ross secured the game-winning touchdown in a tight 15-13 victory on Friday night, but his halftime actions stole the spotlight.
The Tense Halftime Confrontation
As Stallions players headed to the locker room through a tunnel lined with rival fans near a beverage area, jeers from Louisville Kings supporters filled the air. Most teammates ignored the taunts or responded lightly, but Ross reacted intensely.
Video footage circulating on social media captures Ross halting abruptly, removing his helmet, and engaging in a heated exchange with a fan separated by a half wall and glass barriers. He swiped a drink from the fan’s hand, prompting staff to intervene and pull him back. Moments later, another spectator hurled a drink at Ross, escalating into a brief scuffle before teammates escorted him away.
Ross’s NFL and UFL Journey
Ross contributed to the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl triumphs in 2023 and 2024, though injuries sidelined him from both title games. He underwent surgery for spine and foot issues during his three seasons in Kansas City before the team released him prior to last year’s training camp.
Now with the Stallions, Ross marked his UFL arrival with the decisive score. However, his past includes an October 2023 arrest in Kansas for criminal damage, with charges dismissed the following month.
