Laura Woods Mocks Richard Keys Over Late Dyche Sacking Tweet

Laura Woods took a playful jab at Richard Keys after his tweet about Sean Dyche’s potential sacking at Nottingham Forest came hours too late.

Nottingham Forest dismissed manager Sean Dyche, 54, in the early hours of Thursday following a 0-0 draw against bottom-placed Wolves. The club issued its official statement at 12:31 a.m., just under three hours after the match.

Keys’ Delayed Prediction

More than five hours after the announcement, former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys posted on X: “If Dyche goes today would anyone be surprised?” By then, Dyche had already departed, sparking a wave of online mockery.

Keys, who plans to leave his role at beIN Sports at the season’s end, faced ridicule from football fans across social media.

Woods’ Cheeky Response

Laura Woods joined the fray, replying: “If you keep saying managers are going to get the sack I guess eventually you’ll be right.”

Other fans piled on with humorous takes, including one quipping, “Good that you’re ahead of the breaking news, have you anything on The Beatles rumoured split?” Another joked, “If Alf Ramsey starts Geoff Hurst over Jimmy Greaves do you reckon England will win the World Cup?” A third added, “I’m hearing Sir Alex Ferguson is retiring too.”

Keys has not posted on X since the incident.

Previous Clash Between Woods and Keys

The pair have clashed before. Last month, Woods called Keys a “t***” in response to his tribute to Terry Yorath following the former player’s death.

Keys wrote: “Sad to hear the news of Terry Yorath’s passing. He was a warrior and won fans over wherever he played. He was great for us at Coventry and the reason I got Gabby Logan a job at Sky. I had no idea who she was when we met but I knew her dad. RIP Terry. Your daughter did you proud.”

Woods shot back: “Sorry… but what a t***. Said with zero surprise.”

Keys’ Future Plans

Keys confirmed he will return to the UK this summer after 13 years at beIN Sports alongside Andy Gray. In a recent blog post, the 68-year-old stated: “There has been no fall out between myself and beINSPORTS. I’ve loved every minute of my time in Qatar – a country that means the world to me. I have a deep affection for it, but it’s time for me to move on. I’m not retiring – simply changing course. There’s a whole lot more to come yet.”
