Lauren Conrad Set to Retire from Reality TV After Laguna Beach Reunion

Published on

Lauren Conrad expresses readiness to step away from reality television following the 20th anniversary special The Reunion: Laguna Beach, set to air Friday on the Roku Channel.

In a teaser for Kristin Cavallari’s podcast Let’s Be Honest, the 40-year-old designer states, ‘I would love to put a pin in my career.’ She adds that ending her entertainment journey with the same castmates she began with feels ‘clean.’

Early Days on Laguna Beach

Conrad first gained fame as an 18-year-old senior at Laguna Beach High School. MTV cast her alongside classmates Kristin Cavallari, Lo Bosworth, and Stephen Colletti for the initial two seasons of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County in 2004-2005.

She later starred in five seasons of MTV’s spin-off The Hills from 2006-2009, describing it as ‘the easiest money I ever made’ and noting she joined because she ‘was broke.’ The series drew criticism for scripted storylines, including a notable love triangle and feud between Conrad and Cavallari over Colletti.

Declining Recent Offers

Conrad passed on two seasons of MTV’s 2019 revival The Hills: New Beginnings but accepted the role of executive producer for this one-off reunion. During the podcast preview, Cavallari interjects, ‘…hang up that entertainment hat,’ to which Conrad replies, ‘God, I hope so. I don’t [miss it at all].’

She reflects, ‘I think a lot of people really miss it and I didn’t. I enjoyed it while I had it. We had fun. It was great. And I’m really grateful for the opportunity. I know that because I did all that, I’m able to live the life I live now. But I love just being with my fam and my friends and living a quieter life.’

Family and Business Focus

Conrad prioritizes her family, including two sons—Liam, eight, and Charlie, six—born during her 11-year marriage to musician William Tell of Something Corporate, whom she began dating in 2012. Tell’s band has an upcoming performance on August 6 at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia.

She stays active designing her LC Lauren Conrad clothing line and Little Co. children’s collection, both available at Kohl’s. Despite 5.8 million Instagram followers, Conrad posts rarely, perhaps once a year.
