LGI Reports Strong FY26 Earnings Growth and Renewable Energy Expansion

Published on

LGI Limited (ASX: LGI) has announced a significant increase in its financial performance for the fiscal year 2026, alongside a notable expansion of its renewable energy and carbon abatement projects. The company reported a 17% rise in net revenue, reaching $39.8 million, and a substantial 35% surge in net profit after tax (NPAT) to $8.8 million. This robust financial outcome underscores LGI’s strategic progress in the renewable energy sector.

FY26 Financial Highlights and Operational Achievements

The company’s financial report for FY26 revealed several key metrics demonstrating strong year-on-year growth. Net revenue climbed to $39.8 million, marking a 17% increase from the previous fiscal year. Statutory and underlying Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) saw a 26% jump, reaching $21.8 million. The net profit after tax (NPAT) experienced an impressive 35% growth, totaling $8.8 million.

Operationally, LGI achieved significant milestones. Biogas flows increased by 33% to 170.2 million cubic meters. Renewable energy generation reached 140.8 gigawatt-hours (GWh), a 29% increase. These operational gains directly contributed to the company’s enhanced financial results.

In recognition of its performance, LGI declared a fully-franked total dividend of 2.6 cents per share, a 4% increase compared to the prior year, rewarding its shareholders for the company’s success.

Strategic Expansion and Capital Management

Beyond its financial achievements, LGI actively expanded its operational footprint and strategic capabilities during FY26. The company launched eight new carbon abatement projects, contributing to a 9% year-on-year growth in its contracted site portfolio. This expansion bolsters LGI’s position in the emissions reduction market.

To fuel its growth ambitions, LGI successfully completed a $56.3 million capital raising. This infusion of capital is earmarked for its high-conviction project pipeline, which is now projected to exceed 80 megawatts (MW) in capacity. This strategic move enhances LGI’s ability to develop and deploy larger-scale renewable energy projects.

Furthermore, LGI strengthened its financial flexibility by renegotiating and expanding its debt facility to $82.5 million. This represents a significant 66% increase over the previous limit, providing the company with greater resources to pursue its strategic objectives.

A key highlight of LGI’s operational performance is its ability to secure premium pricing for its electricity. The company’s operational platform delivered a realized electricity price approximately 35% above the market average. This premium pricing reflects strong risk management strategies and robust demand for LGI’s renewable energy offerings.

Management Commentary on Performance and Outlook

Jarryd Doran, Chief Executive Officer of LGI, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance in FY26. He noted that LGI outperformed key operational targets, with biogas recovery increasing by 33%, Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) created rising by 18%, and renewable energy generation from its power stations growing by 29%. These operational successes translated directly into the company’s financial results, with net revenue up 17% and underlying EBITDA up approximately 26%, aligning with previously guided ranges.

Doran emphasized that FY26 was an exceptional year, a testament to the team’s efforts and the strength of LGI’s business model. He specifically highlighted the company’s agility in managing ACCU creation volumes, which helped mitigate the volatility observed in the electricity market throughout the year. The successful registration and commencement of carbon abatement activities across eight new sites are seen as crucial foundations for future growth.

Looking ahead, Doran expressed confidence in LGI’s strategic direction. The completed capital raising in October 2025, combined with the expanded project pipeline targeting over 80MW, positions the company for continued success. LGI remains focused on executing its strategy to expand its generation capacity.

Future Growth Prospects and Project Pipeline

LGI is actively pursuing further growth opportunities, with construction already underway on its Canberra and Belrose battery projects. These projects are expected to significantly increase the company’s total managed capacity to at least 45MW in FY27.

Management projects that biogas and carbon credits will drive approximately 10% compound annual growth over the next three years. The company’s strategic focus remains on developing and deploying flexible, scalable renewable energy solutions. LGI is diligently progressing several development approvals and grid connection applications for its high-conviction pipeline projects.

With an strengthened capital base and an expanded debt facility, LGI is well-equipped to execute its strategy aimed at achieving over 80MW of renewable energy capacity. This strategic expansion is expected to further solidify LGI’s market position and contribute to sustainable growth in the renewable energy sector.

Share Price Performance

Despite the strong operational and financial results, LGI shares have experienced a decline of 39% over the past 12 months, underperforming the broader All Ordinaries Index (ASX: XAO). Investors will be closely monitoring the company’s execution of its growth strategy and its ability to translate operational success into shareholder value moving forward.
