Lily Collins’ Touching Birthday Tribute to Phil Collins on 75th Amid Health Challenges

Published on

Lily Collins posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram to celebrate her father, music icon Phil Collins, as he turns 75. The 36-year-old actress from Emily in Paris shared a recent photo of the two embracing warmly, alongside a nostalgic image of Phil carrying her as a child.

A Grateful Celebration

In her caption, Lily expressed deep appreciation for the milestone. “Yesterday Dad turned 75 and I feel so grateful to have celebrated together,” she wrote. She highlighted his achievements, the joy he has spread worldwide, the lessons learned, shared memories, and those yet to come, ending with, “Thank you.”

Lily reflected on their close bond, stating, “I count myself so lucky to have hugged you, laughed with you, and reminisced with you on such a monumental day. Proud is an understatement. Love you to the moon and back again.”

Phil Collins’ Family Legacy

Phil Collins, who retired from touring in 2022, has five children—three sons and two daughters—with Lily standing out as one of the most prominent. His sons, Simon and Nic Collins, have pursued drumming careers, carrying on the family’s musical tradition.

Ongoing Health Battles

The birthday follows Phil’s recent candid discussion of his health issues. He manages type 2 diabetes and complications from a 2007 spinal injury. Recent revelations include five knee surgeries, round-the-clock nursing care for medications, and extended hospital stays due to overlapping problems.

In a conversation on BBC Two’s Eras – In Conversation with Zoe Ball, Phil described a tough stretch involving surgeries, a COVID exposure in the hospital, kidney complications, and mobility difficulties. “There is life in the old dog yet,” he remarked, noting he now uses assistance to walk but remains committed to recovery.

Personal Reflections and Future Outlook

Despite a complex personal history, including marriages to Andrea Bertorelli, Jill Tavelman, and Orianne Cevey, Phil expressed pride in his children. “My kids are amazingly well adjusted considering some of the things that they’ve been through,” he said. “I’m very, very proud of all of them.”

Looking forward, Phil suggested music might still play a role in his life. “You’ve gotta start doing it to see if you can do it,” he indicated, hinting at potential new creative endeavors.
