A 48-year-old man remains in an induced coma following a serious head injury sustained during a brawl in a Logan car park.
Details of the Altercation
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. along Bourke Street in Waterford West, Logan, near the Chambers Flat Road intersection. The area features a McDonald’s restaurant and a pub.
Several individuals took part in the fight. A 29-year-old man from Marsden allegedly struck the older man in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head on the bitumen pavement.
Paramedics transported the injured man to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition. As of Wednesday morning, medical staff had placed him in an induced coma to manage his serious head injury.
Officers arrested the 29-year-old suspect at the scene and charged him with grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Unrelated Fatal Incident Nearby
In a separate event less than 24 hours prior, police discovered a man dead in a car park on nearby Chambers Flat Road. Investigators believe he was driven there from a residence in Logan Reserve after suffering a single stab wound to the chest.
