Margaret Qualley Denies Cheating Rumors Amid Split Reports

Published on

Margaret Qualley has vehemently denied rumors of infidelity, pushing back against speculation that she cheated on her husband, Jack Antonoff. The denials come in the wake of reports suggesting the couple’s relationship is experiencing difficulties.

Qualley’s Representative Issues Strong Denial

A representative for Qualley issued a statement on Friday, obtained by TMZ, directly addressing and refuting the circulating narratives. The statement categorically dismissed the claims, asserting, “There are no trust issues. There was no infidelity or anything outside of respect and partnership in this relationship.” The representative emphasized that only the couple themselves truly know the state of their marriage and that external sources commenting on their relationship are not privy to their private lives. The statement concluded with a plea for privacy.

Speculation Fueled by Public Appearances and Social Media Activity

Rumors of a rift between Qualley and Antonoff began to gain traction following Antonoff’s appearance at the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on July 3. Notably, Qualley was absent from the event, despite Swift having attended Qualley and Antonoff’s own wedding three years prior. Antonoff’s plus-one for the Swift-Kelce nuptials was his sister, fashion designer Rachel Antonoff.

Further fueling speculation, a report from People magazine suggested that Qualley and Antonoff were experiencing a “rocky” period in their relationship and were no longer living together, with another source indicating the pair were “figuring things out.”

Eagle-eyed fans also observed that Qualley had seemingly deleted wedding photos of herself and Antonoff from her social media accounts. Qualley is currently filming the remake of “Possession” this summer.

The couple was last seen together in public at the Grammy Awards in February of this year. Photos from the event, which were posted on platforms like Instagram and X, appeared to show them happy and affectionate, but these posts have since been taken down.

Qualley’s most recent public social media interaction with Antonoff involved a birthday wish on her Instagram Story on March 31. The post, which has since expired, featured a picture of Antonoff with his arm around Qualley and was captioned, “Happy birthday sweetheart.”

Additionally, fans noted that on April 28, Qualley changed her Instagram username from @isimostar to @sarahmargaretqualley23. This change coincided with Antonoff’s band Bleachers having a 2024 song titled “Isimo,” leading some to connect the username change to their relationship.

Past Interviews Hint at Communication Differences

The actress’s absence from the high-profile wedding also brought to mind a past interview where she appeared somewhat guarded when asked about Antonoff’s involvement in producing Taylor Swift’s albums. During a sit-down with Today show co-host Craig Melvin, Qualley was asked about “The Life of a Showgirl,” an album Swift had coming out.

When Melvin mentioned that Antonoff had been producing for Swift for years and had an upcoming album, Qualley responded with apparent surprise, stating, “I don’t know anything.” She followed this with an awkward laugh before adding, “I’ll be excited to listen to the music.” Melvin’s reaction, a simple “OK. Alright,” suggested he was not entirely convinced by her claim of ignorance.

Antonoff has been a key collaborator with Swift, serving as her primary co-songwriter and producer on recent albums such as “Midnights” (2022) and “The Tortured Poets Department” (2024). However, Swift’s latest record was produced by Max Martin and Shellback.

Relationship Timeline

Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff were first romantically linked in August 2021. They made their relationship more public when they attended the Critics’ Choice Awards together in March 2022.

The couple announced their engagement the following year. Their wedding took place at Parker’s Garage in Long Beach, New Jersey. The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Taylor Swift, model Cara Delevingne, and Lana Del Rey. Qualley, the daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, wore an elegant white halter-style wedding gown with a plunging neckline.

The wedding rehearsal dinner in 2023 also drew attention, with fans of Taylor Swift reportedly swarming the event.

Qualley’s representative’s firm denial aims to counter the recent wave of speculation, emphasizing the private nature of their relationship and the inaccuracy of external reports.
