Armed Robbery Shakes Ellesmere Retail Park
Authorities have initiated an investigation following an armed robbery at a Subway outlet in Walkden, Salford, where a masked individual threatened employees with what appeared to be a firearm. The incident unfolded on Saturday evening at the Ellesmere Retail Park location, prompting swift action from local law enforcement.
The suspect arrived in a black vehicle between 8:25 p.m. and 8:35 p.m., clad entirely in black attire including a hooded coat, trousers, and trainers, along with a face mask. He entered the premises, brandished the suspected weapon, and escaped with a modest sum of cash.
Police Description and Response
Greater Manchester Police describe the event as an extremely rare occurrence in the region, yet deeply concerning. The suspect stands approximately six feet tall. In response, officers have increased patrols around the area to enhance security and reassure the community.
Detective Inspector Louise Haslam of Swinton CID stated: “While this will be worrying and concerning, this type of incident is extremely rare in Greater Manchester. We will have extra officers in the area today and the next couple of days as we continue our investigation and provide a reassuring presence. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage to please contact us.”
