Meadow Walker, the daughter of the late Paul Walker, shared an emotional embrace with her godfather Vin Diesel at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. The 27-year-old model joined the 58-year-old actor in France to mark the 25th anniversary of The Fast and the Furious with a special midnight screening at the Palais des Festivals.
Heartfelt Reunion on the Red Carpet
Meadow smiled brightly as she hugged Diesel, who wore a black blazer featuring the logo for the franchise’s 11th and final installment, Fast Forever, on the back. The event celebrated the series that has grossed $7.5 billion worldwide.
Diesel, known for Guardians of the Galaxy, previously walked Meadow down the aisle at her wedding to actor Louis Thornton-Allan. The couple divorced in 2024 after two years of marriage. Meadow, born in California and raised in Hawaii, shared the moment amid fellow cast members.
Touching Remarks During the Screening
Before the screening, Diesel addressed the audience: “This is a film where brotherhood is introduced by myself and my brother Pablo. And the person that was not going to let me come alone here, they represent that brotherhood, was Meadow Walker. I’m going to go and shed a tear real quick.”
After the credits rolled, Meadow described the ensemble cast as a “source of strength.” Diesel added that her father would be “so proud” of her.
Franchise Highlights and Future
The screening honored the 2001 original film. Last year, Diesel hinted at FuelFest that his character Dom Toretto would reunite with Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner in Fast Forever, set in Los Angeles and scheduled for theaters on March 17, 2028. The film stars Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris.
In Furious 7 (2015), director James Wan used Weta Digital to recreate Walker’s face via CGI on stand-ins, including brothers Cody and Caleb Walker, and John Brotherton. Brian O’Conner retired to start a family with Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) and their son Jack.
Meadow appeared in a cameo as a flight attendant in Fast X (2023), which grossed $714.4 million worldwide.

On the red carpet, Meadow displayed her 5-foot-9 frame in a chartreuse sleeveless turtleneck dress with a ruffled skirt and translucent black heels, styled by Alexandra Carl. Owen Gould styled her raven bob, while Anne Sophie Costa applied natural makeup.
Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Letty, surprised Meadow by sneaking up behind her in a pink and silver sequin gown with a dramatic beige train. Meadow, with 4.5 million social media followers, posted an Instagram story of her silhouettes with Jordana Brewster.
Honoring Paul Walker’s Legacy
Meadow was 15 when her father, aged 40, died in 2013 in a Porsche Carrera GT crash with friend Roger Rodas in Valencia, California. The vehicle struck a concrete lamp post and two trees.
Meadow, whose mother is Rebecca Soteros, received a $7.2 million settlement from the Rodas estate in 2014. In 2017, she and her grandfather Paul Walker Sr. settled a lawsuit against Porsche.
Walker’s remains were buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills. To celebrate the anniversary, the Paul Walker Foundation and Alltroo host a rally ending May 22, offering fans a chance to win $25,000 and a Twin Turbo Mark IV Toyota Supra inspired by Walker’s iconic car.
