Michael Barrymore, 73, recently underwent hernia surgery and shares details of his recovery from a new £350,000 bungalow in Devon.
Surgery Recovery Update
Barrymore posted on Instagram about taking it easy after the procedure. He took his whippet, Lara, for a short walk at nearby Blackpool Sands but returned home quickly due to limited mobility. The pair then hung new photos before napping in the sunlight.
“I can’t do a lot until I recover so we just slept all day in the sunlight and chilled out,” Barrymore stated. “I have loads of painkillers the hospital gave me that I don’t like to take because they make me really drowsy.”
He captioned the video: “Recovering from surgery.” Fans offered support, with messages like “Get well soon,” “Wishing you a speedy recovery,” and “Take it easy.”
New Life in Devon
Barrymore moved into the modest two-bedroom, one-bath bungalow in a market town near top British beaches. The timber-clad beach house features exposed wooden beams over a white kitchen and a decking area off the master bedroom and living room, perfect for relaxing.
He has shared TikTok videos of his new setup, including selfies with locals.
Shift from Spain Plans
Earlier plans for a fresh start near Barcelona ended abruptly. Barrymore drove back to the UK after facing homesickness during anti-tourism protests. In a selfie video, he said: “I’m a f***ing mess, so homesick, I’ve never experienced it before. I feel insecure… I felt like I let so many people down.”
Once a leading UK star earning £2 million yearly from ITV, Barrymore’s career shifted after Stuart Lubbock’s death at a 2001 party in his Essex home. He denies any role in the matter and has rebuilt an online following as a TikToker.
