Molly Smith’s Dad in Tears Seeing Her Wedding Dress

Published on

Love Island star Molly Smith shared a deeply emotional moment from her recent wedding, capturing the instant her father, John, saw her in her bridal gown for the first time. The heartwarming video, posted on Instagram, shows John overcome with emotion, wiping away tears as he prepared to walk his daughter down the aisle.

An Emotional Wedding Day Moment

Molly Smith, 32, and Tom Clare, 26, celebrated their marriage over the weekend in a lavish ceremony in Mallorca, Spain, following their legal union last month. While the couple has been sharing highlights from their special day, Molly chose to spotlight a particularly touching exchange with her father. In the video shared on Wednesday, John Smith is visibly moved, a reaction that also brought tears to Molly’s eyes.

Molly captioned the clip with a tender tribute: “The man who loved me first.” Her new husband, Tom, also commented on the post, humorously noting his own emotional state, “Wow I’ve cried all week.” This father-daughter moment underscores the profound bond between them, a sentiment echoed by the groom’s own tearful reaction to the day’s events.

A History of Sentimental Occasions

This wasn’t the first time Molly’s father expressed such deep emotion regarding her relationship with Tom. Previously, during an episode of their podcast “NearlyWeds” in March, Tom recounted how John had also become tearful when he asked for permission to marry Molly. The proposal took place during a family barbecue, a setting chosen by Tom to ensure both families were present.

Tom explained the scenario on the podcast: “When I asked your dad, that I wanted to take your hand in marriage, we were at our family barbecue. Your family were there and my family was there. But because we were going away I was like this is the time I need to ask your dad.” He detailed how he lured John to the garage under the pretense of needing help with something, before revealing his intentions. “And I said, ‘John will you just come have a look at this in the garage for me?’ And he was like straight up because he likes to help. And then I pulled him in. I was like, ‘Oh, John, like obviously me and Mo are going away.’ And I really want to ask her to marry me. Obviously, I wanted to ask you for permission first.”

Recalling the moment, Tom added, “And then he teared up. He did tear up and then gave me a big hug, which I thought was really really nice.” Molly found her father’s reaction reassuring, commenting on the podcast, “It’s quite reassuring isn’t it.” This shared history of emotional responses highlights the deep respect and affection John has for both his daughter and her partner.

A Picturesque Mallorca Wedding

The couple’s destination wedding took place at the Son Marroig estate in Mallorca, a renowned 17th-century marble temple offering breathtaking panoramic views of the sea. This picturesque venue is a popular choice for couples seeking a romantic setting for their nuptials.

Molly and Tom’s wedding celebration included a candle-lit reception on a terrace overlooking the sunset. Molly looked radiant in an elegant, beaded bridal gown, while Tom complemented her in a sharp white tuxedo. The event was attended by several fellow Love Island stars, including best man Casey O’Gorman, Mitch Taylor, Hayley Griffin, Sophie Piper, and Joshua Ritchie, who all appeared to be in high spirits.

Celebrations and Unexpected Visitors

Following the ceremony on Saturday, the festivities continued into the night at the Suculenta Port de Sóller restaurant. However, the lively celebrations reportedly led to a visit from the local Guardia Civil, after yacht crew at the nearby harbour expressed irritation. Despite the unexpected police presence, which might be a cause for concern for many brides, Molly appeared unfazed.

Social media posts from the event showed Molly embracing the moment, serving shots, and even jumping into the sea with her husband. Guests, including best man Casey O’Gorman, were seen documenting the party, with Casey humorously posing in Speedos for photos shared by Mitch Taylor. The bride and groom, along with their guests, enthusiastically joined in the water, capturing numerous photos and videos of the joyous occasion. The group seemed unbothered by the police intervention, continuing to celebrate and document their memorable wedding day on social media.

Conclusion

Molly Smith and Tom Clare’s wedding in Mallorca was marked by profound emotional moments, particularly the touching scene of Molly’s father seeing her in her wedding dress for the first time. The event, set against a stunning backdrop, was filled with love, laughter, and a touch of unexpected drama, culminating in a memorable celebration shared with friends, family, and fellow reality stars.
