Residents in two of New Brunswick’s largest cities have elected new mayors following Monday’s municipal elections. Unofficial results from Elections New Brunswick confirm Steve Hicks’ victory in Fredericton and Shawn Crossman’s win in Moncton.
Fredericton Welcomes Longtime Councillor as Mayor
Steve Hicks, a veteran Fredericton city councillor, defeated former MP Jenica Atwin to succeed Kate Rogers, who opted not to run again. Hicks’ win marks a leadership transition in the capital city.
Moncton Sees Change After Senate Appointment
In Moncton, Shawn Crossman emerged victorious. He replaces Dawn Arnold, appointed to the Senate in 2025 and temporarily succeeded by Deputy Mayor Paulette Thériault. Crossman’s election restores a permanent mayor to the role.
Saint John Mayor Secures Second Term
Donna Reardon comfortably won re-election in Saint John, defeating her nearest rival by a wide margin and continuing her leadership for another term.
