Oasis secures a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026, joining other British music legends like Sade, Billy Idol, and Joy Division/New Order, who share a joint nomination.

Announcement and Selection Process

The inductees, selected by over 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry experts, were revealed by host Ryan Seacrest during a recent episode of American Idol. Oasis, fresh off a sold-out reunion tour last year, meets the eligibility criteria of 25 years since their first commercial recording.

Liam Gallagher’s Evolving Stance

Singer Liam Gallagher, 51, once dismissed the honor in 2024 after Oasis was nominated, posting on X: “F*** the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS,” and adding, “I don’t need some w*** award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”

His tone shifted following the confirmation. Liam recently shared on X: “Reverse psychology vibes in the area Oasis RnR hall of farmers I mean famers.” He continued sarcastically yet gratefully: “I wanna thank all the people who voted for us it’s a real honour ever since I was a little kid and singing in the shower I’d dream about 1 day being in the RnR hall of fame it’s true what they say anything is possible if you have a dream LG x.”

This comes months after his brother Noel, 58, received Songwriter of the Year at the Brit Awards.

Other Notable Inductees and Ceremony Details

Additional 2026 honorees include Wu-Tang Clan, Queen Latifah, Luther Vandross, and Celia Cruz. Phil Collins earns a second induction, following his 2010 recognition with Genesis. Joy Division and New Order unite under one banner, with New Order rising from Joy Division’s ashes after frontman Ian Curtis’s death in 1980.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Chairman John Sykes stated: “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony – it’s going to be an unforgettable night.”

British acts were scarcer in 2025, limited to Bad Company and Joe Cocker. Last year’s nominees, including Oasis, Joy Division, and Billy Idol, missed the cut then.

The induction ceremony occurs in Los Angeles this November, streaming on Disney+ in December.
