On this date, on the flip of the century, Large Boi and Andre 3000 launched their fourth album, Stankonia, on the Laface/Arista imprint.
Following up on their profitable Aquemini LP, Outkast got down to problem themselves creatively and that they did; Stankonia ended up being one of many duo’s most profitable business albums, going gold within the first week after its launch.
A few of the album’s main singles embody the child mama drama anthem “Ms. Jackson,” the rhythmic hook of the catchy “So Recent So Clear,” and the well timed and socially aware “Bombs Over Baghdad (B.O.B.).” With stable manufacturing from Organized Noize and Earthtone III, this album is likely one of the South’s most impactful initiatives.
Salute to Organized Noize, 3 Stacks, Large Boi, and their whole crew for bringing us such a timeless Hip-Hop traditional!
