Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain confirms that his fiancée, Perrie Edwards, plans to join him in Glasgow roughly four weeks after the birth of their newborn daughter.
New Chapter with Celtic
The 32-year-old former England international recently signed a five-month contract with Celtic. He maintained his fitness by training with Arsenal and playing for their Under-21s. In his first interview since the move, Oxlade-Chamberlain shares that Perrie will relocate to Scotland with their four-year-old son, Axel, and baby daughter, Alanis.
He states: “Yeah, she will be up here for sure. We’ve just had a second baby, so she’s only four weeks old. I think a few more weeks and they will probably head up here for sure.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain adds that Axel eagerly anticipates the move, given his growing love for football. Perrie has visited Glasgow before, though she often mentions the weather. He expresses enthusiasm for the family’s upcoming reunion.
Exciting Family News
Perrie Edwards, known from Little Mix, announced the birth of their daughter Alanis Valentine last month via a heartfelt Instagram post. The couple, engaged since 2022 after five years together, shared the joyful news following an adorable video in September revealing Axel’s excitement over the pregnancy.
Perrie’s Journey Through Loss
The couple’s happiness follows Perrie’s candid revelations about enduring two miscarriages. On Paul C. Brunson’s We Need to Talk podcast, she described Axel as a “rainbow baby” after an early miscarriage before his birth left her anxious during that pregnancy.
“I was a bit on edge thinking, ‘Oh gosh, I want to get past the 12 weeks,'” Perrie recalls. She cherished the pregnancy despite the fears, calling it one of the happiest times.
A year later, during rehearsals for Little Mix’s final tour, she discovered another pregnancy but suffered a devastating loss at 24 weeks. “That was just the worst day of my life,” she shares, recounting the scan where she sensed something wrong.
Perrie details the emotional toll: “You’ve planned out the room and all these things, it’s really hard.” The grief intensified when her milk came in days later, a traumatic reminder. She praises Oxlade-Chamberlain’s support: “We are very lucky to have each other… He was just so worried about me.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Reflections
Oxlade-Chamberlain echoes the challenges in a recent interview, noting, “When you start a family, that’s when you start to learn it’s not easy to have a child… It’s so difficult, especially losing the baby so late.” The couple took time to feel ready for another try, grateful for Axel as a focus.
Without a club after leaving Besiktas last summer, he valued the quality time at home supporting Perrie and bonding with Axel ahead of Alanis’s arrival. On his Celtic signing, he says: “It’s exactly what I need… I need to help the team achieve the goals we want to do.”
