The Las Vegas Raiders have appointed Klint Kubiak as their new head coach mere hours after he guided the Seattle Seahawks to a commanding 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
Kubiak’s Championship Triumph
Kubiak, 38, confirmed the move during post-game celebrations at Levi’s Stadium. “You guys know I’m going to Las Vegas,” Kubiak told reporters on the field. “I’m fired up about it. Hell yeah, I’m going.”
In his only season with the Seahawks, Kubiak elevated the team to a 14-3 record and their second Lombardi Trophy. His offense ranked third in the NFL, averaging 28.4 points per game. Quarterback Sam Darnold earned his second Pro Bowl nod with a career-best 67.7% completion rate, while wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the league with 1,793 receiving yards and secured Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Revitalizing the Raiders
The Raiders finished the 2025 season at 3-14 and now turn to Kubiak to spark a turnaround. He replaces Pete Carroll, who left after one lackluster year. This hire extends a family legacy; Kubiak is the son of Gary Kubiak, who coached the Denver Broncos to Super Bowl 50.
Prior roles include offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints in 2024 and Minnesota Vikings in 2021. In 2023, he worked with the San Francisco 49ers staff, which topped the NFL in red-zone touchdown efficiency at 67.2%.
Offseason Outlook
Kubiak plans to recruit key Seahawks coaches to Las Vegas as rebuilding begins. The Raiders hold $91 million in salary cap space, the league’s second-highest total. Priorities include developing Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza, the Indiana quarterback projected as their top draft pick. Tom Brady intends to apply a “quarterback development manual” that aligns with Kubiak’s approach.
This marks the fifth full-time head coach for the Raiders since their 2020 move to Las Vegas, amid ongoing leadership changes. An introductory press conference is set for Henderson later this week as 2026 preparations ramp up.
