Late Transfer Move Bolsters Rangers’ Attack

Rangers finalized a £4 million acquisition of German striker Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock just before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. The 22-year-old completed medical assessments at the club’s training facility late Monday evening ahead of the 11pm cutoff.

Accelerated Deal Details

Initial reports indicate the Scottish Premiership side increased their original £3 million summer agreement with the German third-division club to secure immediate reinforcements. The revised package could reportedly reach £5 million through performance-related add-ons, with Hansa Rostock negotiating a 20% future sell-on clause.

This transaction marks the most expensive outgoing transfer in German third-tier football history.

Manager Rohl Addresses Squad Needs

Manager Danny Rohl emphasized attacking improvements following Sunday’s goalless draw against Hibernian: “I see a group that continues to develop cohesion. This result doesn’t overshadow our progress – we remain firmly competitive in this title race.”

Squad Restructuring Continues

Naderi’s arrival coincides with potential departures, including striker Danilo who has drawn interest from Dutch Eredivisie clubs. Rangers confirmed midfielder Joe Rothwell’s permanent transfer to Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.

The January window saw significant activity at Ibrox, with approximately £7 million combined spent securing midfielder Tochi Chukwuani from Sturm Graz and defender Tuur Rommens. Wolfsburg winger Andreas Skov Olsen joined on loan with a £9 million summer purchase option, while defender Clinton Nsiala moved to Belgian side Westerlo on temporary terms.

New Signing Brings Title Experience

Chukwuani, who won Austria’s Bundesliga last season, believes his championship background can aid Rangers’ campaign: “Understanding title-winning mentality helps immensely. We recognize areas for improvement after the Hibs match, particularly in final-third execution, but maintaining defensive solidity during our unbeaten run provides foundation.”

The Danish midfielder added: “Building connections within the squad remains ongoing work as we prepare for upcoming fixtures.”
