Stale bread doesn’t have to end up in the trash. A quick kitchen hack restores freshness to baguettes and other baked goods in just minutes, using only tap water and a hot oven.
The Easy Revival Method
TikTok creator Tyler Butt, who shares tips with his 1.6 million followers, demonstrates the technique. He advises: “If you’ve got stale bread or baguettes like this, please don’t bin them. You want to just quickly run them under the tap, shake off the excess and then put them into a nice hot oven for 5-10 minutes.”
Why It Works
Running water over the bread reintroduces moisture, which might seem counterintuitive but delivers impressive results. In the oven, the water turns to steam, softening the interior while the crust crisps up as surface droplets evaporate. The outcome is bread that’s soft inside with a crunchy exterior.
Tyler notes the transformation: “It’s soft, still crunchy on the outside and has completely reset it.” This method also works on rice, pizza, croissants, pastries, and bakery loaves.
Viewer Reactions
Many praised the tip in the comments. One user shared: “Thank you for that. I normally make mine into breadcrumbs.” Another called it “genuinely a top tip.” Others remarked, “This is cool” and “This works great for bakery loaves too.”
