Singer Sabrina Carpenter Granted Extended Protection Order

Pop artist Sabrina Carpenter has successfully obtained a permanent restraining order against an individual who repeatedly appeared at her Los Angeles residence. The legal protection aims to prevent further unwanted contact and trespassing.

Legal Proceedings Detail Persistent Intrusion

The restraining order was issued against William Applegate, who was arrested on Carpenter’s property on two separate occasions within a short timeframe. Following an initial apprehension, Applegate was again taken into custody the subsequent day after returning to the singer’s home.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has mandated that Applegate must maintain a distance of 100 meters from Carpenter, her sister Sarah, and Sarah’s boyfriend George for the next five years. Applegate reportedly appeared in court to contest the order, but his arguments did not sway the judge’s decision.

Temporary Order Preceded Permanent Ruling

Carpenter had initially been granted a temporary restraining order earlier this month. This action followed a formal request for protection filed by her representatives on May 19. Court documents indicated that Carpenter’s team perceived Applegate’s actions as “deliberate, calculated and aggressive,” causing significant alarm.

Allegations of Repeated Trespassing

According to the filed documents, Applegate allegedly arrived at Carpenter’s Los Angeles home without invitation or prior notice on May 23. Law enforcement officers responded to the scene and made an arrest. The filing further states that Applegate returned to the property less than 24 hours later, reportedly leaving after being confronted by security personnel.

Further court records indicate Applegate allegedly reappeared at the residence on May 25, necessitating another police response. Photographic evidence depicting a man at Carpenter’s front door was reportedly submitted as part of the legal filing.

Singer’s Declaration Highlights Lack of Connection

In her sworn statement, Carpenter stated, “William Applegate is a complete stranger to me. I have never met him or communicated with him in any way. I have no desire to meet him or communicate with him.”

Defendant’s Counter-Arguments Rejected

Applegate’s defense contended that Carpenter did not desire the permanent order, asserting it was initiated against her will by her security team and the Los Angeles Police Department, in conjunction with her legal counsel. He characterized the action as a consequence of “maligned instructions” from a government program.

He further alleged that Carpenter and her family were aware of his presence outside her residence as early as April. Applegate also claimed that Carpenter’s performances at the Coachella festival in April were specifically intended for and directed at him.
