Sachs Harbour in the Northwest Territories remains under a boil water advisory. Officials urge residents to boil all water for consumption for at least one minute before use.
This applies to drinking water, food preparation, hot and cold beverages, ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, and dental hygiene. Public fountains should not be used for drinking.
Cause of the Advisory
The measure serves as a precaution due to frozen intake and truck-fill pipes at the local treatment plant. These blockages prevent the plant from drawing in water for processing, prompting temporary manual chlorination.
No cases of illness linked to the water supply have surfaced in the community.
Resolution Efforts
Local authorities and the Department of Municipal and Community Affairs collaborate to fix the problem. Residents will receive updates once the advisory lifts.
