New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs confronts a new defamation lawsuit mere days before Super Bowl LX. The legal claim arises from a 2024 incident involving an alleged stolen Ferrari and related physical confrontations among his associates.
Details of the Defamation Lawsuit
A former employee of Diggs accuses the star receiver of wrongly blaming him for stealing the luxury car, even though police investigations cleared the plaintiff of any involvement. This false accusation reportedly damaged the victim’s concierge business and triggered numerous threats against him.
The lawsuit details an assault at Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami in December 2025, where two men linked to Diggs attacked the plaintiff while Diggs’ brother, Trevon Diggs, observed. The victim sustained severe injuries, including a torn ACL, during the altercation.
Both Stefon and Trevon Diggs appear as defendants in the suit, which demands compensation for defamation, vicarious liability, and conspiracy to harass the ex-employee. Diggs has yet to issue a formal response as he gears up for the Super Bowl following a standout season as the Patriots’ top target.
Recent Assault Allegation by Personal Chef
This latest lawsuit follows closely on accusations from Diggs’ personal chef, who claims he committed felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. The incident report describes Diggs entering her unlocked bedroom, grabbing her from behind, and applying pressure to her neck with his elbow. She feared losing consciousness before he threw her onto the bed.
The accuser initially hesitated to name Diggs to authorities due to his celebrity status. Diggs categorically denies the charges. He recently stated, “It’s been an emotional time. It’s definitely an open case so I can’t even say anything about it.”
Pattern of Controversies
Diggs, a nominee for NFL Comeback Player of the Year, transferred to the Patriots after successful stints with the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. He remains one of the league’s premier receivers despite ongoing issues.
Additional incidents include a May 2025 viral video showing him on a boat handling a pink substance suspected to be drugs. He addressed the matter privately with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, who kept details confidential, resulting in no team or league discipline.
Social media influencer Chris Blake Griffith later alleged Diggs attempted to drug him, made unwanted sexual advances, and plotted against his life. Diggs countered by suing Griffith for defamation, prompting a counterclaim from Griffith upholding his claims.
Diggs shares a child with girlfriend Cardi B amid these developments.
