Sydney Sweeney’s Cameo Cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2 Sequel

Published on

Sydney Sweeney’s cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been removed from the final cut. The 28-year-old actress will not appear when the sequel arrives in theaters on May 1.

Details of the Deleted Scene

The three-minute sequence featured Sweeney portraying herself, styled by Emily Charlton’s character, played by Emily Blunt. Positioned near the film’s opening, the scene was eliminated due to structural issues in the storyline. Production sources describe the decision as challenging, expressing gratitude for Sweeney’s involvement.

Fans first learned of her participation after spotting her on the New York City set in August 2025.

Other Star Appearances Confirmed

While Sweeney’s role is gone, Lady Gaga remains set for a cameo. The 40-year-old singer also co-wrote and recorded the soundtrack track “Runway” with rapper Doechii.

Anne Hathaway reprises her role as Andrea “Andy” Sachs, now serving as features editor under Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) at Runway magazine. Priestly draws inspiration from Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Insights from Industry Leaders

In a recent interview, Wintour highlighted the fashion industry’s evolution. “What I liked about the first film is that it showed the world what a huge business fashion is,” she said. “It’s a true economic force globally, and the first film acknowledged that. So much has changed. But I like to think we’re evolving rather than disintegrating. We’re still here. We’re all doing our jobs—in different ways and across multiple platforms instead of just one, but how wonderful is that? We’re reaching far more people.”

Wintour also voiced full trust in Streep for the sequel. Streep reflected, “I do think they’ve located something true about the business now,” regarding her return after 20 years.

Ahead of the release, Streep and Wintour grace the cover of Vogue’s May issue.

Background on the Franchise

The original 2006 film adapts Lauren Weisberger’s novel, drawn from her brief stint as a Vogue intern. Weisberger called the experience “crazy,” which lasted less than a year and shaped the story of the demanding Runway editor.
