Toronto faces significant rainfall from Friday night through Saturday, set to melt much of the existing snowpack. A special weather statement warns of 15 to 25 millimetres of rain starting Friday evening and continuing until Saturday evening.
Expected Weather Conditions
Several rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms will occur, beginning this evening. Mild temperatures combined with the rain will accelerate snow melt, resulting in increased runoff.
The frozen ground limits absorption of this rainfall, heightening the risk of issues from the melting snow.
Potential Impacts
Ponding may develop on roads and in low-lying areas due to the rapid snowpack reduction and excess water.
