New Radio Duo Takes Over Triple J Drive Shift
A fresh on-air pairing has been revealed for the Triple J drive slot, with Luka Muller set to reunite with Jordan Barr. The announcement comes just days before current breakfast co-host Concetta Caristo’s departure from the station.
Muller, who has been co-hosting the breakfast program with Caristo, will now join forces with Barr. The comedy duo initially collaborated on ‘Weekend Arvos’ in 2024 before pursuing separate broadcasting roles. Barr is scheduled to conclude her tenure on ‘Triple J Weekends’ this Sunday, while Muller and Caristo will deliver their final breakfast show on Friday.
Excitement for the New Role
Jordan Barr expressed her enthusiasm for the new position, stating, “I’m incredibly excited to step into Triple J Drive! It’s such a dream come true.” She added, “I’ve genuinely had nightmares that I’m being pranked and none of this is real.” Barr reminisced about her childhood listening habits, recalling, “I used to come home from school, make an afternoon snack with totally insane ingredients from the cupboard, and put on Triple J Drive.”
Luka Muller shared his anticipation for the shift, saying, “I’m so fired up to bin the 4am alarm and have a muck around in the afternoon with Jordan.” He highlighted their long-standing friendship, noting, “She’s one of my oldest and closest friends and I can’t wait for more of the country to fall in love with her.” Muller also humorously recounted a past experience, sharing, “At Splendour In The Grass in 2022, we cried together after finding a human turd next to her tent, so if we’ve been through that, I think we can do anything.”
Broadcasting Schedule and New Breakfast Hosts
Muller and Barr are set to begin their drive time broadcasts at 3 pm on July 13. In parallel, Abby Butler and Tyrone Pynor will be taking over the breakfast slot.
Farewell from Concetta Caristo
Concetta Caristo, reflecting on her time at Triple J, shared her emotions on Instagram: “As a girl known for having one million feelings in every moment, it is criminal to be asked to sum up my time at Triple J in a sentence.” She continued, “Spending my mornings laughing and talking to so many people around the country has been a genuine privilege and joy in my life.” Caristo concluded, “I’m going to cherish the memories forever.”
Muller also offered a heartfelt tribute to his departing co-host, stating, “I’m so proud of everything Concetta and I got to do on breakfast and feel so very lucky to have shared it all with someone so kind, talented, fun, and silly as Chet.” He expressed his outlook on the new drive role, “Stepping into drive is gonna be so much fun. I’m excited to meet new listeners, I’m excited for everyone to see what we’ve been cooking up, and I’m excited to turn off the 4am alarm.”
