Vanessa Trump posted a heartfelt tribute to her daughter Kai on her 19th birthday Tuesday, coinciding with Tiger Woods’ court hearing over efforts to shield his medical records in a DUI case.
Birthday Message Highlights Family Focus
Vanessa shared an Instagram post emphasizing celebration amid the legal proceedings. “Happy Birthday to my firstborn, Kai. I am beyond proud of you and all that you have accomplished,” she wrote. “Watching you graduate from high school and begin this new chapter into adulthood is one of the proudest moments of my life. You have worked so hard to get where you are today, and it truly shows.”
She described Kai as “an amazing young woman, smart, strong, kind, and determined,” noting her excellence in school and role as a role model. “I love you with all my heart, and today is all about celebrating you,” Vanessa added.
Court Hearing on Medical Records
A hearing took place Tuesday morning in Martin County Circuit Court, north of Palm Beach County. Prosecutors subpoenaed Woods’ prescription medication records from a Palm Beach pharmacy covering January through March. This follows Woods entering rehab in Switzerland after a late March crash near his Palm Beach home, where authorities charged him with DUI.
Woods pleaded not guilty. Deputies found two pain pills in his pocket and noted signs of impairment after his SUV clipped a truck trailer and rolled over on a Jupiter Island residential road with a 30 mph limit. The incident caused $5,000 in damage to the truck.
Woods passed a Breathalyzer test showing no alcohol but declined a urine test. Prosecutors seek the records to check if he received warnings against driving while on painkillers.
Defense Argues for Privacy
Defense attorney Doug Duncan argued in a court filing that Woods holds a constitutional right to privacy for his prescriptions. If the judge deems the records relevant, Duncan requested a protective order restricting access to prosecutors, law enforcement, state experts, and the defense team.
Woods’ History of Driving Incidents
This marks the fourth driving-related issue for Woods. In 2017, Florida police arrested him for DUI after finding him slumped in his car with five drugs in his system, including painkillers. In 2021, a California crash severely injured his right leg, requiring multiple surgeries, but no charges followed. He also crashed into a fire hydrant in 2009 while fleeing his Florida home after his then-wife Elin Nordegren discovered an affair.
