Ben Hollingsworth, the actor portraying Dan Brady in Netflix’s Virgin River, shares insights into his character’s dramatic motorcycle crash that caps season 7. While Hollingsworth knows Brady’s ultimate fate, he remains tight-lipped to preserve the suspense.
Season 7 Key Plot Developments
The latest season tracks Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) as they navigate their relationship post-wedding. Mel’s patient, Marley (Rachel Drance), presents them with a chance to adopt her newborn, but the infant arrives with a critical heart defect and requires urgent transfer to Los Angeles for treatment.
Meanwhile, Brady experiences his own crisis shortly after a passionate reunion with intermittent love interest Brie (Zibby Allen) atop the motorcycle. The bike then veers off the road in a harrowing incident.
Hollingsworth’s Reaction to the Twist
“I couldn’t believe it. At first, I was like, ‘Is Brady done on the show?'” Hollingsworth stated. “The moment you read it, it does send a little chill down your back and make you think, is this the end?”
The crash abruptly halts Brady’s tumultuous romance with Brie. Viewers anticipate either a grueling recovery arc or a permanent farewell to the fan-favorite character after seven seasons.
“It’s tragic, and Brady is such a tragic figure,” Hollingsworth added. “The guy should never get involved with gambling, because he would never win anything, ever. He’s got the worst luck in the world.”
Hope for Survival
Despite the grim outlook, Hollingsworth points to Brady’s resilience, noting prior escapes from a season 4 stabbing and a recent fire unscathed.
“He’s a durable dude. He’s durable!” the actor emphasized. “So I’m going to hold out hope that he stays durable.”
Hollingsworth hinted at Brie’s pattern: “I think Brie has a thing for guys in a hospital gown, because there was her next to Brady when he got stabbed, then her next to Mike when he got shot, maybe this is all just one giant scheme to seal the deal. If we see Brady wearing a hospital gown in season 8, it’s a good sign.”
