Singapore Airlines operates the world’s longest non-stop flight, linking New York JFK Airport to Singapore Changi Airport. This ultra-long-haul route spans 9,537 miles and lasts 18 hours and 50 minutes, a service launched in 2018.
Aircraft Designed for Endurance
The airline deploys the Airbus A350-900ULR, engineered for flights exceeding 20 hours without refueling. An advanced fuel system boosts capacity by 24,000 liters, enabling these extended journeys.
Exclusive Cabin Options
Economy class is unavailable on this route. Instead, passengers choose from 67 Business Class seats or 94 Premium Economy seats. Premium Economy offers extra legroom, footrests, adjustable headrests, noise-cancelling headphones, and in-flight WiFi.
Business Class prioritizes privacy with seats that convert to fully flat beds. Passengers benefit from higher ceilings, larger windows, custom lighting to combat jet lag, and superior air quality from the carbon composite airframe.
Premium Pricing and CEO Insights
Fares often exceed five figures, reflecting the luxury service. Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Goh Choon Phong described the route as the fastest connection between the cities. He stated: “Singapore Airlines has always taken pride in pushing the boundaries to provide the best possible travel convenience for our customers, and we are pleased to be leading the way with these new non-stop flights using the latest technology, ultra-long-range Airbus A350-900ULR.”
“The flights will offer our customers the fastest way to travel between the two cities – in great comfort, together with Singapore Airlines’ legendary service – and will help boost connectivity to and through the Singapore hub.”
While this flight sets the endurance record, the Antonov An-225 Mriya remains the largest aircraft, capable of carrying 52 mature elephants.
